From Kentucky to Tanzania

Dear Friends,

Today, Wednesday, February 1st, is the Big Day we have all been looking forward to in great anticipation!  Months of preparation have taken place to organize everything on both sides of the ocean.  I am leaving from Louisville, KY at 6:00a.m. this morning; and will be leaving New York City at 5:00p.m. tonight for an overnight flight to Istanbul, Turkey.  I expect to arrive in Mwanza on Friday and in Geita sometime on Saturday, February 4th.  I thought it would be fun to give you a pictorial idea of what will be taking place on my trip into Tanzania.  Enjoy the slide show as you scroll down the screen!

(Note from Julie:  We got a phone call from Nathan at 5:00p.m. from New York City airport, and his flight has been rerouted to London, England because there is four feet of fresh snow in Instanbul, Turkey.  Turkish Air has agreed to make these changes without any extra charge. Nathan will be leaving at 7:00p.m. tonight and arriving in London at 6:30a.m.  tomorrow.)

Dozing off on an overnight flight across the Atlantic ocean.

Waking up to the sights of the East African Coast.

Waiting in the muggy heat of Dar es Salaam's International Airport.

Flying the blue skies of Tanzania with Precision Air.

Glancing over the little "shambas" in the country.

Anticipating a warm welcome on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Enjoying a cold glass of mango juice with friends.

Riding with "King Jesus" through busy city streets.

Appreciating the breeze on the ferry ride across the bay.

Traveling country roads to take me home to the...

Smiling faces of a big "Karibu Tanzania" welcome!

I hope to post a weekly blog about this ministry teaching trip over the next six weeks.  This will depend, of course, on the availability and functionality of the internet cafes!  Check in as you are able and see what comes up!

May the peace of Christ be with you,
Brother Nathan
